Yesterday, I had a demo teaching at St. Ives. They were highly participative. After that, I facilitated the remedial class in phonics. It was tiring but so fun.

I was able to watch four Cinemalaya 2014 entries last Saturday with my friend, Mikka.

Hari ng Tondo
It shares a tale of a businessman returning to his old home in Tondo, Manila. He was surprised to see how the home of the heroes became a poverty-stricken area. As the story goes on, it tackles family relationships, search for belongingness, and finding real friends in little ways Tondo can offer.

Asintado
It depicts how money and illegal drugs play a destructive role in the society. A teenager, as he fails to deliver illegal drugs to a government official, is forced to face the deadly consequences. The Taong Putik festival in Nueva Ecija is quite new to my knowledge! I’d like to experience joining that celebration in the future!

K’na, The Dreamweaver
It presents a tale about a T’boli princess portrayed by Mara Lopez. The story emphasizes the conservative ideals of the tribe. It shares the extraordinary story of finding true love. Do you have to walk away from your duty as a royalty to be with the one you love?

Mariquina
A famous turned infamous shoemaker from the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, Marikina, committed a suicide. When the body was recovered, the handmade pair of shoes was gone. It revolves around his daughter’s search for another pair that will fit his feet (and his taste). As the story goes on, family secrets are being reopened to clarify an old conflict. Will death put an end to their father-daughter relationship?

I will find my someone, and they will realize that I am
a hurricane. That they will step back and be intimidated
